BSS has installed many
systems for clients over the years, but the most remarkable is the
full scale professional system at the Lonestar Café Bar and Dance
Hall. The stage at the Lonestar is often graced by well-known
international acts such as Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Montgomery
Gentry, and Keith Urban, so only a sophisticated, top-quality system
was acceptable.
BSS is proud to have been chosen to design and install and maintain
it.
In designing the system to fit the budget for the project, we chose
Yorkville Concert series (TX-4) and Crest Audio amplifiers. The
cumulative FOH power alone adds up to over 11,000 watts of power,
for a room that has a capacity of 350 people. We also installed a
Midas Venice console with professional effects (Yamaha, Roland) and
equalized with (Ashly) processing. A separate monitor console
(Mackie SR24 modified to provide six post mixes for weekend bands,
on bi-amped Martin LE400 monitors. A Yamaha GA32 or Yamaha LS-9 32
is brought in for national acts, QSC PLX power, and Electrovoice
XW12A, and XW15A monitors to complete the National act monitor
system.
The band lighting system for the Lonestar is getting a facelift
changing from twenty four Par 64 chrome cans, on NSI NRD8000
dimmers, driven with a 24 channel, 7024 NSI console to 24 PAR 64 LED
cans and an elation scene setter 24 console. The six Par 64 chrome
cans will stay to provide warm front lighting, with medium-wash
bulbs.
The dance floor lighting system is another story… It has eight
Martin Mania moving mirror fixtures controlled with an ADJ DMX
controller that acts as the centerpiece to various other DJ style
fixtures. There are pins spots and other fixtures attached to a
Mephestronic chaser. An Antari DMX hazer provides the haze to
backdrop the whole illumination. On such a small dance floor, the
lighting provides a great party atmosphere.
We were also asked to install the restaurant audio system. This was
no small task because of the various floor levels and small private
rooms. For this task, we turned to the JBL install product, using a
JBL 25T monitors to be the beefy playback speakers, and then
powering the 70 volt fourteen-speaker system with a Yorkville Audio
Pro 4020 (2x1200 watts @ 2 ohms). For the mixing console in the
kitchen we used a sixteen-channel Behringer with an auxiliary feed
out to the main bar system. There are also a couple of all-weather
outdoor speakers on the patio.
The Lonestar Café's system is the crown jewel of BSS's club
installations.
We installed and currently service all of the Lonestars audio
requirements for all four locations in the city.
BSS also provides professional production for the service clubs
(Lions, Optimists, Kinsmen) several times a year. These clubs
provide entertainment for under-privileged children and the
handicapped, in the form of a musical variety show. These events
include 2 musical acts and a range of comic or magical performers.
Finally BSS provides production for most of the local fall fairs and
festivals, dotting the Ottawa Valley, Ottawa-Carleton area. Often
these fairs include systems large enough to accommodate the National
Acts listed below
